MOMMY -

6 Weeks to go!

I think it was a Tuesday evening, about 10:00 PM Sacramento time, 1:00 AM Texas time (where I was) towards the end of February. Mom got up to use the bathroom and slipped and fell on the bathroom floor. She hollered out my sister's and brother's names and they did not respond right away.

At the same time I was sleeping soundly, quietly and gently. Suddenly, 2 men broke into my room, grabbed me, threw me on the floor and began yanking on my left leg and my left arm. I was trying to grab them and make them stop with my right arm but I was swinging and missing.

I finally yanked my arm and leg from the 2 guys. They fell backward in the doorway and I sat up and looked around. I was alone in my room. A couple of days later I spoke to my Mom on the phone. She told me I had experienced a stroke.

I believe my Mom knew she was going to pass. She hurried home from the hospital and moved to another place. Far from her old neighborhood. In this new community, Tony would be away from bad influences and perhaps get his life together. Jeannie could also get a new lease on life.

Mom got deathly ill, again, and they rushed her to the hospital by ambulance. This is when they found that her pacemaker had burnt out. She had used it up in half the time. It was her heart, for her heart had no more power. This time, everybody knew she was dying, for real.  It was about this time that we were having shared dreaming. Mom was in hospice and they were keeping her medicated on codeine (I think). I was not able to speak to her because they did not have phones in hospice, for the patients. Sherry visited her everyday.

Mom dreamed of all her negative experiences with us, with Daddy and with other family members and friends of the family. I was shocked and very angry. I realized that Mom was feeling guilty for not being loving and forgiving with us. I began to pray that Mom accept the peace that was with her. I think she kept waking up, when I would lose touch with her; then she would go back to sleep and I would pray with calm soothing words that her sleep would be sweet.

One night at 1:00 AM I was strartled awake, I sat up quickly. I could not reach Mom. I laid down and returned to sleep. The next day, my sister called, my Mom had passed. Her 6 week struggle was over.
